Mighty Oaks Summer Club @ Ashton Keynes.

Summer Club

Summer Club

Mighty Oaks has a great programme lined up for our first summer at Ashton Keynes Primary School. Using the school grounds with its many wonderful and safe spaces we can provide a spectacular Summer Club for children of all ages.

  • Large athletics field: securely fenced, great for football, rugby, assault courses, rounders, running games.
    Field
  • Tarmac playground: a large space for light tennis, bikes, skate-boards, scooter courses and even pavement art (as pictured).
    Taarmac Area Tarmac Area
  • Outdoor adventure play equipment: this includes a climbing wall, bridge, slide, tyre balancers, chain tightrope walk. Great for challenging balance and agility and all with a new safety surface.
    Play AreaPlayPlaying
  • Quiet, reflective area: perfect for a chill out in the shade, a chat or a spot of reading.
    Reflective Area
  • School hall and classroom: these are available to us so even in poor weather the fun will continue.
  • A fenced and gated pond and pool area: the mini pool is perfect for wet play and cooling off in the hot (let’s hope) summer, but small enough to remain safe. The pond is only 10ft wide and a couple of foot deep in the centre but, with its meadow banks and bridge, provides an enchanting environment to explore nature. We will have the area supervised at all times and due to the gate can restrict use to small, supervised groups.
  • Conservation area: for getting up close and personal with nature.
    Fenced
  •  Den making area with a willow house and long grass
  •  Fenced off arts and crafts area: ideal for separating those delicate works of clay and paper mache from the odd misplaced ball, and for giving a focused opportunity to those fledgling artists who may wish not to have their creativity disturbed.

Staff Team

We have an energetic and enthusiastic team of qualified and experienced staff. Children who attend Powell’s or Ashton Keynes Primary Schools will know them already but they look forward to welcoming children from further afield. The four core members of the team work full time in Early Years childcare and Sally (camp manager),  Jos, and Sarah all have NVQ Level 3 in childcare. They will ensure that all children are treated as individuals and can work and play to their own ability and most importantly have the freedom to choose what they want to do this summer.

Extended Age Limits

We have increased our upper age limit to 13yrs as the new facilities (Ashton Keynes Primary School) are able to provide an ideal environment for this age group (whereas Acorns was not).

Very young children

The ‘Mini Oaks’ are 4-5year olds and will wear a distinctive, neon yellow waistcoats (where appropriate, ie not in the water). These Early Years Foundation Stage children will be given a key person at the beginning of the day. This will most likely be Sally Smith, the club manager.

Registration Fee

There is a one off registration fee of £5 for children who have never attended Mighty Oaks  breakfast, after school or holiday clubs at Acorns, Cirencester or at Ashton Keynes Primary School.

Transfers: Cirencester to Ashton Keynes

As we are not running the usual holiday club at Acorns in Cirencester, we are considering arranging a vehicle for transfer.

If you are interested in using this option please ask Jill (Acorns office admin) to put you on the daily list at time of booking. We will only consider transport if given at least a week notice.

Booking Form

You can download a copy of our Booking form here, fill out and return by email (taking care to save your child’s name in the title), or you can print it and return by hand or send to Jill Cox, Acorns, 10 Park Street,  Gl7 2BN ).
